Definition of a Whole Grain
The grain has an outer layer called the bran layer, and inner layer called the endosperm, and the germ
This picture is from the Whole Grain Council. There web site has lots of good information.
Wild Rice is roasted/parched but it is still a “whole grain” because the bran layer, endosperm and germ (all have to be present to qualify as a whole grain ) are present in wild rice. White rice IS NOT a whole grain as it has had the bran layer and germ removed. Brown rice and colored rice are whole grains.
